Now that I'm finished with my first few listenings of The Else...
...time for a few thoughts on it.
[info]spasmsproject : Thank you!

[info]paulcurtis : Though I don't find Climbing the Walls taking over my brain, Take out the Trash won't get out of my head.

I liked this album first listen
- a rarity for They Might Be Giants for me. Since Flood, only Apollo 18 and Factory Showroom have given me an instant hit of TMBG goodness. (The others grew on me after the second listen).  The first half of the album is strong-strong-strong but the second half, almost to the end - With the Dark through Contrecoup - seems a little weak and I tune out as I'm listening.  I wonder why they didn't mix up the tracks better.

What's really odd is that when I'm not actively listening to the album I've had Nirvana going through my head - specifically Territorial Pissings and Pennyroyal Tea.  I suspect there's a few points on the album which are tickling those spots in my brain.

Good! Then it's just me.

I've usually had the same problem, though NO! was an instant hit with me. Glad you're enjoying it, too! Curiously, I find "Contrecoup" and "Fake Amnesia" very strong and catchy, and "Shadow Government" got stuck in my mind a lot...so I found the second half less weak than you did. Yay for them!

Good! Then it's just me.

I hope that's comforting then. :D

You're welcome! Glad you liked.

I really enjoy "Mesopotamians" and "With the Dark."
