08:39 pm pittsburgh [paulinahtoo] [Link]	Deadbeat roomate advice please HELP! I am posting this for a friend who is new to Pittsburgh and just got really shafted by a con artist roommate. This lazy girl owes hundreds (2300) in backrent, bills, expenses to my friend.. and we are trying to find a link to the process of taking her to small claims or any other options. Problem: Deadbeat roomate. The conartist owes several hundred dollars in backrent and 1/2 the security deposti. She owes 250 dollars on a 500 dollar internet bill that is in my friends name. She is refusing to pay although the agreement was to split bills 50/50. Also my friend paid for alot of shared items in the house including other bills/groceries etc. under a verbal agreement from her that the she would pay back for the items. My friend has kept all of the receipts of what she spent money on, thinking this lazy girl would pay her back. Now the lazy B is leaving 6 months into a 12 month lease. Her name is on the lease and my friend is stuck paying for all of the apartment. What are our options and how likely is it that we can get anything out of her? Small claims court? 02:35 pm thrifthorror [becky_h] [Link]	My husband bought 45 yards of this fabric. When I asked why he said "I got it all for 6.00!" It was his great thrift store find. What the hell he expected me to do with it, even he doesn't know. That added to 20 yards of crushed black velvet he wanted in our bedroom (and I vetoed), he's deserving a little disturbance in his life. So I bought these two pictures and stuffed them in the bathroom so creepy little girls can stare at him while he pees. He's definitely disturbed. There are also some poop jokes. If you are offended by unintentionally unseemly icing shapes or poop jokes, you will not like today's post. In other words: Hide the children!! That said, everything here is safe for work (as always) and will most likely sail cleanly over the heads of the very young. Still, parents should note that CW has always been, and always will be, a PG-rated site. Now, on to the unintentionally unseemly icing shapes! Last week we established pretty much every possible way turkey cakes can be wrecked...except one. You see, turkey cakes have two inherent flaws. First, they're made out of chocolate icing... which looks like poo. This you know. However, the other problem - which I have avoided mentioning until now - is that they also tend to have long skinny bodies and blobular heads, which can look, well... a little stiff. Combine these two unfortunate predilections, and you get: The turkey poo-wang. (Nice "legs.") Here's another: This guy looks pretty shocked. 09:59 pm itches [Link]	Written in Blood, Pain and Stone Fragments So I'm writing a story that is a tad outside my normal comfort zone for a friend, and in it I've decided to try very hard to give each character their own unique voice. In most of what I write everyone always ends up talking with the same voice, my voice. Occasionally I'll throw in an odd mannerism to try and disguise it. In this story I made an effort from the get go to craft a unique voice for each everyone and stumbled upon the voice for one character early on. As I plotted the story out, I reached a slight block. I needed to get things moving on, but couldn't find a way past this point that didn't seem contrived. Worse, I had somehow managed to lose the character's voice in a situation that was not very suited for her. All together it managed to put me in a funk. Sometimes I'll refer to writing as trying to beat down a brick wall by smashing your head against it. Frustrating, slow and painful, but in the end if you keep at it you get through. I was beating my head against the wall without making any progress when I decided to change tact. I was missing the character's voice and knew I'd just have to rewrite the dialogue once I finished the first draft, so I sat down and cast about for the unique voice from this character. I re-read the samples that contained the essence of the character, I thought, searched and it finally hit me. Not only did I find the voice for the character again, but the voice lead me down a path that easily side stepped the roadblock I had been facing. It changed the scene from being painfully contrived to smooth flowing. Now to push on to the next roadblock and try to finish it. (1 comment \| Leave a comment)
04:23 am worldofwarcraft [tanzentravis] [Link]	Dilemmas So.. I faction changed from Horde to Alliance back in early September and joined this raiding alliance on my server. Everything's been really peachy. Lately, though, I've felt.. weird. So.. what's the problem? I'm starting to feel homesick, I guess. I underestimated the difference between factions: population imbalance, the quality of PUGs, etc. I could always count on having Wintergrasp as Horde and I could chain-run heroics with full groups that do 3-4k DPS per person (as Alliance, I find TOC10 geared people doing 1k, 1.2k, 1.4k etc). But most of all, I miss my friends. Some of those guys I've known since I started playing WoW "seriously" back when BC was released, so 2-3 years worth of fun with these people. Wiping on Attumen for 2 hours in BC, aggroing ghosts in KZ to kill our mage, the priest that managed to die on every trash pull in Kara, stuff like that (as a very small group of friends we did a fuckload of Kara and ZA). But.. I can't faction change. The people I raid with now are great too, and I'm getting loot and seeing content I never thought I'd see. I'm doing ToC25s, ToGC25s, Ulduar HMs and that sort of deal with these guys. I have my own moments with them too, and I feel like I'd piss everyone off if I faction changed back to Horde, but when I faction changed from Horde I felt the same way. Really, I guess what I'm afraid of is that I'll wind up having alienated all my friends on both factions and wind up guild-less and friendless. But man, I really miss the Horde. I've tried leveling alts but I absolutely loathe leveling, so I wind up abandoning these alts or just getting on them to say hi to people and that's about it. bawwww idk what to do Current Mood: cold (6 comments \| Leave a comment)

I went to the HUGE thrift shop we have last week but since we didn't intend to go there, I didn't even have my cell on me, much less my camera. 07:01 pm worldofwarcraft [neuroxin] [Link]	Turkey Lurkey >_< So I read a couple of places that you could complete all of the Pilgrim's Harvest in one day, and as a result I waited until today to start. I've now completed everything except Turkey Lurkey. It appears you can only obtain the Turkey Shooters with which to transform rogues into turkeys by completing the dailies. I had to use two of my dailies for the Pilgrim's Hat and Pilgrim's Dress. That left 3 for Turkey Shooters so I got my three and used them successfully. That means I have 5 rogue races left to turn into turkeys to complete the meta achievement. Now I am worried. The calendar says the event ends at 23:59 tomorrow. I have to have 5 dailies with which to obtain 5 Turkey Shooters. I'm not sure that 5 are going to be available. I did complete 5 today but sometimes they throw you an extra one at the beginning of an event. What if I can only obtain 3 or 4 Turkey Shooters tomorrow and then I'll be a rogue or two short for the entire year? I'm really worried! Maybe I'm missing something? How does 3 capital cities = 5 dailies? Can anyone offer an assurance that I'll be able to complete this tomorrow? Or maybe some tips on how I can make sure I do? Eek!
